I posted about our guest bathroom remodel a long time ago...you can read about that by clicking here.

Well we finshed it a few weeks ago and I just haven't gotten around to posting about it.  Brady did all the work himself and it look amazing!  Here are the pictures of our NEW BATHROOM!
Picture
The gorgeous vanity we got from Lowe's! I am in love with it =)
Picture
New vanity top, faucets, and sinks. All installed by my sexy handyman...who also happens to be my husband. We obviously still need to get a towel bar...don't judge.
Picture
In the process of remodeling the bathroom we accidently broke our old toliet so we had to get a new one!
Picture
This is the kind of toliet you get when your husband goes to Lowe's by himself to buy it. The silver buttons on the top of the tank are the flusher buttons. The left button has only three dots and that one is for pee. The right button has nine buttons and is for the heavier loads that one might drop in our potty!
We love our new bathroom and hope you do also!

June is upon us, and when you are 24 years old that means that you will be spending many of the upcoming summer weekends attending weddings.  Some people don't like this because it takes time away from summer projects, you have to travel, and newsflash...weddings are not cheap to attend.  At the least, you have to spend money to get a nice gift...lots of the time you have to travel far which means gas money and shelling out some dough for a hotel room.  Also if you are in the wedding party you can just forget about it...this means you have to chip in for the bachelor or bachelorette partiy, pay a couple hundred bucks for a dress or tux that you will only wear once, and a lady can easily pay over $100 to get hair and nails done.  But you know what...all this is so fine with me because...I LOVE WEDDINGS!

I love the love that is in the air, I love seeing old people dancing, I love the glow of the newly married couple, I love the decorations, I love the toasts, I love having an excuse to get all dressed up...weddings are great!

All this wedding love has caused me to reflect on Brady and my special day...which was already almost a year ago.

Some of my favorite memories from that day are...almost throwing up and passing out before walking down the aisle (wasn't fun at the time, is pretty funny now), being super surprised when Pastor Tim said "Brady you may now kiss your beautiful bride" and Brady french kissed me for a very VERY long time...haha did not expect that one, whispering with Brady as we danced to our slow song "Crazy Girl" - Eli Young Band, surprising everyone when my dad and I broke it down on the dance floor for during the usually very boring Daddy Daughter Dance, singing "Fancy" with Megs as loud as we could into our sparkly microphones...just like at our apartment except for one minor difference =), and riding home in Brady's truck...it was just like the millions of other times we rode in his truck chatting and holding hands...except I was wearing a wedding dress!
The wedding was a wonderful day...but marriage makes a wonderful LIFE!

We recently got a new clothes dryer.  It was very inexpensive, Brady installed it himself, it is super eco-friendly and wallet friendly as it costs virtually nothing to run.  The only con is that it leaves our clothes kind of crunchy...it's a CLOTHESLINE!
Picture
Clothesline close up...I had to make sure none of Brady's sexy undies were in this pic becuase all the other girls would get too jealous =)

Our pretty country view!

Look at this handy dandy clothespin holder that my girlfriend Krista got me =) This is pretty much the reason I wanted a clothesline in the first place!

Laundry helper numero uno...Nicholas!

Laundry helper numero dos...Dale!
I just realized that I have done multiple laundry related posts...am I really weird?

I have horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE allergies.  The kind where I can't sleep, can't breathe, and can't see because my eyes get so goopy.  I pretty much eat Zyrtecs like they are candy and they usually don't even help me at all!  I was having an especially bad allergy day on Friday when I wandered into CVS and bought one of these bad boys...
That little teapot thing is called a Neti Pot, and it is basically a granola hippie way to clean out your head of all those mean allergens without taking any drugs.  You fill it with salt water, stick the blue penis part up your nose, then pour in the water...which travels up one nostril and swishes around all the deep recesses of your head and then comes out the other nostril.  It is really gross and really awesome all at the same time!

Brady was the first one to try it and he didn't love it so much...maybe he felt weird sticking the mini weiner part up his nose?  I tried next and it worked great on me!  Brady even took this video with my handy dandy iPhone...enjoy!
Please don't make fun of us because this is what we did on a Friday night!

So we didn't go to prom...we went to after-prom, so that's not as creepy right?  Brady's cousin, Cole, is a junior at Tri-Central High School and it's the juniors every year who plan prom.  The juniors also plan the after-prom with help from their parents.  This is an alternative thing to do after the dance that provides a safe environment that is drug, alcohol, and sex free...unlike many other after-prom parties.

Brady's Uncle Mike and Aunt Jenny are Cole's parents and they were very involved in planning the after-prom.  Aunt Jenny is always helping us out with projects on our house, watching our dogs, and saving coupons for me.  So when she told Brady that they might be short on parent help and could use a couple extra volunteers, he said yes right away.  I was kind of a baby about it because I was pissed that Brady would volunteer me for something without even asking me, especially when the thing he volunteered me for was on a Saturday night from 11:30 pm - 3:30 am.  But after much complaining I went along with him and it ended up being a super fun date night!

Brady and I helped out at the "Casino" where the kids could play blackjack or poker.  There were also areas where the kids could dance, do laser tag, go in a "cash cube", go inside giant hamster balls, there was a cartoonist, and a photo booth, and tons of food and drinks, and many other fun things that I am sure I am forgetting.

I was really surprised by how many kids actually attended the after-prom.  When I was in high school hardly anyone went to the after-prom.  Everyone seemed to go to the person's house where the parents were out of town and the big brother bought beer.  I am sure kids here do that stuff also, but a lot of them really don't and it's cool to see that side of high school that I was never a part of.  It just makes me I feel like I have moved to Pleasantville or have gone back in time to the 50's because I live in such a morally upright Christian community.

I know I make fun of Sharpsville a lot and I always tease Brady for being so sheltered because he grew up here.  But I really do love this little corner of the world, and I can't wait to raise our kids here.  This really is home and I couldn't imagine living anywhere else.
After being up till 3:30 in the morning, my prom date and I need a nap!
Thanks for reading!

I am still winding down from the "best weekend of my life"...this is what I told Brady about a million times this weekend.  For my first birthday as Mrs. Brady Peters, my wonderful husband surprised me with a weekend getaway that was jam packed with wonderful activities!

Friday
We left around 11:30 and started heading southeast on 74.  I had no idea where we were going or what I was in for.  We just drove and talked, and sang, and Brady graciously listened to some girly podcasts that I picked out.  Then we got into the weird little corner between IN, OH, and KY...and I asked, "Are we going to the Creation Museum?!"  Sure enough we were!  This is somewhere that both of us have wanted to go for a long time so it was awesome to finally be there.  The museum was amazing...I learned so much!  The pages of Genesis really came alive, and the museum proved that creation is indeed true and evolution is a manmade myth.  The museum took all day, and that was barely enough time!  I can't wait to go back!  Brady's favorite part was the Planetarium and my favorite part was the Garden of Eden.

After the museum we headed to the Drawbridge Inn, went to happy hour, then proceeded to dinner at Bonefish...one of my favs!  And look at the special list that was on our table...
Saturday
We woke up, headed to breakfast, then made our way to Chateau Pomije Winery.  We tasted many delicious wines, had a private tour of the winery, and bought a couple of our favorite bottles.
Then we headed to the Hickory Road Inn.  It is a true Bed and Breakfast, which means we actually stayed in someone's house where they lived.  It was our first "real" B and B experience...and we are hooked!  They run about the same price as a hotel, or even cheaper...and they have so much more to offer.  The ambiance and food were both amazing.  Jerry and Leacarol were such gracious hosts and we have already booked our next trip to stay there...we are taking both of our parents down there in December for a little "triple date" weekend.
After spending some time enjoying "Grandma's Room" at the B & B we headed to Ertel Cellars.  This was my favorite part of the trip!  Ertel Cellar's Winery is known for its sweet wine!  And they had an amazing resturant where the special was Macadamia encrusted Sea Bass...it was so delicious...I felt like I was back in Hawaii.  We had a great time at this winery and of course we didn't leave empty handed!
It was a wonderful weekend, a perfect mini vacation, and an awesome time to relax and spend quality time with my best friend/hubby.  I am so happy he planned this with the busy planting season only days away.  Yeah in case you didn't catch that earlier...Brady planned all this by himself, I had no idea we were doing any of this...I was so surprised!

Until next time!

What is the deal with this weather?!  I am loving it!  I will take 80's in mid-March any day!  The only negative about this weather is that I feel like I am behind on my summer projects...and technically it is still winter...how crazy is that?!

With the nice weather comes a lot of work, that is just the nature of the beast when you live on a farm.  Brady has been working long hours repairing the cattle lot, repairing the outside hog lot, and tearing out fence.  I also have been working mega long hours along with lots of traveling.  Today is Sales Closing Date for crop insurance though, so starting now I am going to have a little lull until after planting time.  Which is perfect because I can help around the farm while the boys are putting the crops in the dirt by being their go getter.

My birthday is also this weekend, and I just can't believe it is going to be pushing 80 on March 18, because I can remember multiple birthdays that were spent with snow on the ground.

I am not sure what we are doing for my birthday this year...you know 24 is a big one!  All I know is that I am supposed to be packed and ready to leave by tomorrow morning at 8:00 am and we won't be home until Sunday around noon or 1:00.  And I am not supposed to snoop on Brady's laptop because he has an hour by hour itinerary for the weekend saved on it....oh my gosh, for those of you who know me well I am sure you know that at this moment I immediately because super horny because I LOVE ORGINIZATION!  And I love surprises so I can't wait...I have such a wonderful husband!

Well I better get going because I have lots of cleaning, organizing, packing, and working out to do before tomorrow morning!

Hope everyone has a wonderful St. Patty's Day filled with much beer, corned beef, and cabbage!

Sam

There are days when we can't even handle two dogs, and I am on the verge of giving one of them away.  I hope I never want to give one of my kids away...even though I am sure it is a good possibility.  Having the dogs gives Brady and I a little taste of what it will be like to have a baby...even though we won't just kick our baby outside in the snow to take a dump =)

But in all seriousness, dogs are a huge responsibility!  You have to feed them - make sure each dog is eating his own food, bathe them - this usually consists of me in the tub with Gus wearing a bathing suit and Brady playing defense on the outside of the tub making sure he doesn't jump out, give them toys to chew to deter them from eating things like blinds, furniture, and doors - yes Gus has destroyed all those things, give them flea, tick, heartworm meds, get them a babysitter when we are out of town...yada yada yada.

Well now with our newest addition to the family comes another challenge...doggie potty training.  Gus was trained when I got him and I didn't realize how amazing this really was.  Dale is pretty good but he still has a few accidents in a week...and they are always on the carpet!

So on to the part about why we aren't ready for kids...this weekend Brady was out of town with his man friends and I was here in good ol Sharpsville, IN with my girlfriends.  Brady and I both had super fun weekends with our old college buds but after a couple days apart we were really missing each other and couldn't wait to be reunited...for multiple reasons =)

Well the girls had all left and after a little snooze on the couch I was up and trying to get everything spic and span so my hubby could come home to a stress free, clean house just like he left it.  Well Dale crapped on that plan when I was napping...literally.  I walked into the dining room and there was a little goldmine just waiting for me in there...ugh.  So I showed it to Dale, yelled at him, smacked him on the nose, and put him outside.  Then I proceeded to clean up the mess.  As I was cleaning it I didn't notice that Dale left a secret little turd a couple feet away from the original crime scene and I stepped in it...on our nicest rug, wearing my favorite slippers.

Fast forward a couple hours...Dale has just been outside with Gus running and playing in the snow for about 40 minutes...so surely he has gone to the bathroom right?  Wrong.  He came back in the house and five minutes hadn't passed and I see him squatting on the same nice rug starting to take a huge crap.  I picked him up while he was in the act, did the yelling/smacking routine, and was livid!  Not only did he crap on the rug twice in one afternoon...but he interrupted my TurboFire time with Chalene.  As Stephanie Tanner would say, "How rude!"

At this point Brady was less than an hour away, and my excitement to see him had been replaced by feelings of murder towards Dale.  So of course I texted Brady to tell him how mad I was, how he better get here soon before Dale gets turned into a puppy bomb (Krista, Megan Erica, Brittany, Chelsie...hope you read that, haha), how if Dale isn't a perfect dog just like Gus then we are getting rid of him in a month, etc.

So what I did was let Dale's crapfest, turn Brady's homecoming into a crapfest.  There was no passionate kissing and or can't keep your hands off each other sexy time becuase we have missed each other so much moment...there was stress, silence, and angry feelings towards each other and Dale.

I can see how easy it is to make mistakes raising kids because I have made plenty just being a fur baby mama.  I have a favorite dog...*cough cough* Gus.  And the biggest thing I see is that when either dog does something bad it adds stress to our home and puts strain on the marriage relationship.

Needless to say we all kissed and made up, we forgave Dale and decided to be better trainers for him, and we did have our can't keep your hands off each other sexy time later that evening.

Until next time,

Sam

Let me just tell you...these things are amazing!  Growing up, my family had tons of problems with allergies and eczema so we always used unscented and no fun laundry detergent and we definitely never used fabric softener or anything yummy like that.  My mother-in-law got me hooked on these things and I could slap her because they are expensive!  I refuse to pay full price for them, but even after I use coupons or get them on sale they are still around 6 bucks, full price they can be about $8 or $9!

It is so worth it though...Downy Unstopables are sort of like Yankee Candles or Bath and Body Works Wallflowers for me...I justify the price because they just smell so darn good!  I am all about smelling good and I pretty much am always in a constant battle against foul odors.  I guess this is that I signed up for being married to a pig farmer and owning a big slobbery hound dog.  But I refuse to lose the war!  I want to smell good, I want my house to smell good, I want my husband to smell good, I want our dog to smell good, and now because of this "clothing scent booster" our clothes can also smell good.  Actually they smell way better than good...good is clean cotton.  Now the clean cotton scent just does nothing for me anymore...but scent saturated, super delicious clothes, sheets, and towels totally turns me on.  TMI?

I would recommend this product to anyone and everyone, but let me warn you...once you come to the delicious smelling dark side you won't be able to turn back.

In case anyone didn’t know the Big Easy is New Orleans, Louisana.  The locals call it NOLA, Nawlins, and they are all proud to be part of the "Who Dat Nation" (that is what the Saints fans call themselves).  Brady and I went there for a business trip with my company.  We figured since I had to go anyways, he might as well tag along, we went a couple of days early and stayed one day late so we could check everything out.

New Orleans was a fun city but we don’t plan on ever going back.  The city was very unique and unlike any place either of us had ever traveled to.  The city was alive, it pulsed with music and art.  Many of the streets are constantly closed with bands playing on them, donkeys pulling carriage rides, and palm readers telling people’s destinies.

All in all it was a great trip and I am happy we went.  There were many things we liked about the vacation and some that we didn’t love so much.  I’ll start with what we didn’t like so much.

The Strippers
-usually this isn’t an issue because we don’t go into strip clubs so we don’t see strippers…well in New Orleans it is a little different story.  Bourbon Street is peppered with strip clubs and cabarets where the naked girls stand in large doorways that face the street and ask men to come in.  I am an extremely open person about nakedness and sex, but I do believe it should be confined to the covenant relationship of marriage and it just grossed me out that these girls were shaking their thang on a busy public street and I am not even kidding, the only thing that was covered up was their lady cha cha.

The Poverty
-There were a lot of homeless people, which is common in most cities so it’s not like we were super shocked.  But one unique thing about the homeless people in New Orleans is that they all had pit bulls.  I love, love, LOVE dogs and have nothing against pit bulls, but I do have something against homeless people who take on the responsibility of having one.  If you can’t afford a house for yourself and food to put in your own mouth, then don’t bring a poor little pup into the mix.  Just a side note on this whole subject…I love to be generous and help people out, especially “the lesser of these” but if your health is good enough to sit on the street and heckle people for handouts, then I am sure you
are capable of getting a job somewhere.

Bourbon Street
-was extremely filthy.  Yes it was entertaining and had some cool bars and shops, but overall it was pretty nasty.  The cops patrolled the street by horseback.  It didn’t make an already dirty city any cleaner having cops riding around on horses that would crap everywhere.   In addition to the horses, 90% of the people walking around on the street are hammered…you are even allowed to have open containers on the street so many of the bars sell cocktails “to-go”.  When the drunk people barf on the street in addition to the crap that the horses already left behind it's not a good mix.  Also let’s not forget about the strippers and homeless people that are already roaming the street.  Horse crap + drunk people + strippers + homeless people = don’t touch anything and when you get back to the hotel first wash your hands in boiling water then give them a nice soak in some hand sanitizer.  PS…I saw girls walking on Bourbon Street with no shoes on!  AHHHH!

Now onto the good things about New Orleans…

The Food
-
Oh my gosh…the food was amazing.  I thought I knew what good food was since I grew up fairly close to Chicago, but Chicago food can’t touch the Cajun flavor of Nawlins.  One thing we especially liked was the Beignets (pronounced ben-yay).  These are French donuts that are light and fluffy and covered in a mountain of powdered suger.  Next up...Bananas Foster…this is made of rich vanilla ice cream covered with a delicious rum sauce with slices on banana in it.  Yum yum yum we are going to try to make this one at home.

The Southern Charm
-The people were so nice.  You could just feel the southern hospitality everywhere and it was awesome.

My Co-Workers
-I am planning to do a post on my job in the near future so I will elaborate on this sometime very soon.  All I can say is that I work for an awesome company with lots of very amazing, fun, and downright crazy people!

Houmas House
-One day we left the city and did a tour of a grain export facility, a barge trading company, and a plantation.  The grain export facility was amazing...they could unload a barge filled with 84,000 bushels of corn in 45 minutes (thats 4,704,000 pounds)!  The barge company was also really neat, but I really can't think of any highlights except for the fact that the tour guide's name was Bobby Brady =)  The highlight of the tour day for me was a place called Houmas House.  The house was built over 15 years from 1810 to 1825 and today is restored to its natural beauty.  In it's prime the plantation sat on 300,000 acres of gorgeous Live Oak Trees and thousands of acres of cotton and sugar cane.
Isn't that house amazing?!  I want a plantation for Christmas...hint hint Brady =)
